Wear headphones or earbuds the right way round (L and R).
Remember the direction by listening only. The screen does not reveal the answer. If too quiet, check device volume, then raise the slider gradually. Loudness varies by device. Stop immediately if uncomfortable.
How it works and limits
How to play
- Wear headphones or earbuds the right way round, then choose a difficulty (Guided or Challenge) and volume.
- Start, then Play notes: you will see “Listening”, then “Your turn”. Press L and R in the order you heard.
- Listen again is allowed (it is counted). After each round, press Next.
- Leaving the window stops the sound immediately and replays that round.
How the sound is made
Short pentatonic notes composed for this site are synthesised in the browser. No songs or downloaded audio.
Each note is a two-channel buffer with sound on one channel and silence on the other. A single mono source is never connected to both sides. Volume starts at 0.06 and never exceeds 0.16.
Limits
If the output is mono or the browser does not report its channel count, left and right may not be separate. This game is not a hearing test or speaker calibration.
If one side is silent, confirm left and right with the headphone and speaker tests first.
